Kari’s Law and Section 506 of RAY BAUM’S Act

On August 1, 2019, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted rules to implement Kari’s Law and Section 506 of RAY BAUM’S Act to help Americans reach 911 services more quickly. These new federal regulatory obligations mean that enterprises operating Multi-Line Telephone Services (MLTS) (such as Ingenious Smart Business Phones) are required to provide the following:

  1. Direct Access to 911without dialing any prefix, post-fix or trunk access code ***YOUR INGENIOUS PHONES ARE ALREADY COMPLIANT***
  2. Notify On or Off-site securitywhenever 911 is dialed within the building or from a phone in the orginazation  ***COMPLIANCE FOR EXISTING MLTS WAS REQUIRED BY FEBRUARY 17, 2021***
  3. A dispatchable Location sent to the PSAP with every 911 call, as required by Section 506 of RAY BAUM’S Act (not required at this time)  ***COMPLIANCE WILL NOT BE REQUIRED UNTIL AFTER APPROVAL BY THE OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET AND SUBSEQUENT PUBLICATION BY THE FEDERAL COMUNICATIONS COMISSION IN THE FEDERAL REGISTER WITH THE COMPLIANCE DATE***

Current customers of Ingenious Smart Business Phones should have received an email from support@ingeniousphone.com outlining these requirements and requesting information to satisfy item 2, above.

There will be no additional charges made by Ingenious Technology LLC dba Ingenious Smart Business Phones for the enhanced services required by Kari’s Law and Section 506 of RAY BAUM’S Act.
